Happy Anniversary...
To 3rd LAR 1st platoon.
My husband, as most of you know, is a Marine combat veteran. He was part of the invasion of Iraq in 2003. They had to enter the country in hazmat suits not knowing what to expect. When we speak about that experience Brian says, "It was hot as balls!" Yup, that's my guy..
He is humble.
Today I receive a message from the guy that saved my husband's life.
Literally.
Brian is alive, well, a husband, and a daddy today, thanks to my husband's fellow Marine Juan.
The message was as follows...

That was it. A short, and simple message filled with such complicated emotion.
I cried, looked at my daughter sleeping on the monitor, and prayed.
Here is his platoon the day they returned alive and well from Iraq.

My daughter the model.
Being the daughter of a photog, comes with the responsibility of constantly being in front of the camera.
She has become my little practice child for lighting, composition, ISO, shutter speed, & aperture adjustments. She has had to endure many "grueling" {not really} hours of being positioned, dressed up, put on props, put inside props, put props on, or in hand. Poor kid has to deal with my stupid noises just so I can get that perfect shot of that perfect smile.
PHEW! What a rough life....
Today was one of those days. Except, we did the shoot FOR Em and OF Em, instead of USING Em just for practice.
So without further ado, here is my daughter the model in all her 1/2 year glory...

Every single person needs to watch/read this.
Preface: I am in NO WAY anti-vaccine. I am anti-schedule. We need to change the schedule of the vaccinations, and doctors, the people we trust our baby's lives to, need to be more up front and HONEST with us. They are not being honest if they stick to the current schedule of vaccines.
1. Yes, it has been PROVEN that vaccines contribute to the rise of autism and other ND's (neurological disorders) I have seen it myself more than NOT!
2. Pharma companies have settled in court for death and/or injury that has happened to many children as a result of the vaccines. Billions have been won. Why? The pharma companies know what they are doing is wrong.
3. Back when "we" were kids, {I say "we" because we are all different ages but up until about 7-10 years ago the vaccination schedule was completely different} every 1 in 10,000 kids were diagnosed with some sort of ND. Now?? 1 in 68!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? That statistic has directly gone up with the rise of vaccinations. Within the 1st year of life children were given a total of 10 vaccines. Now they are given 36! Each one with more deadly and CHEAPER toxins inside of them.
4. I in no way judge you if you stick to the current schedule, I just want people to educate themselves a bit more before they make that decision. After you do your research, you still believe that sticking to the schedule is right for you and your family, I can't fault you, nor would I.

IT IS TIME..
To set things straight.
About who I am and what I do. Do I take pictures? Yes. Do I cost more than lets say Sears or Kiddie Kandids? Eh...That is up for debate.
My price compared to other "custom photographers" is very low. My price to a non-custom place like kiddie kandids and Sears may seem a bit high. However, so many people are swayed into purchasing so much more than the $19.99 special.
Getting back to custom photography, that is what I do. I make sure we settle on a date, time and location of YOUR choice. We work until you and your child are done with the session, and we work on you and your child's time. Everything is custom for you. Take that, as well as the high end gear I work with and my post processing time and efforts and you get custom package.
So many people have gasped at my prices and said, "Oh I'll just go to kiddie kandids." If you see quality in kiddie kandids than by all means enjoy your impersonal non-custom time there. If your kid cries, more than likely, you won't leave with photos that evoke tear jerking emotion on your part. However, so many people are so happy to settle for just a snapshot of their kid.
I don't do snapshots. I make art.
That being said, let me show you what else a photo factory does NOT do.
So when you are done oogling at the adorable little girl in the pic, take a look at the differences. On the left is a SOOC shot and on the right is the image post-processed. I took an already good photo {Because good photos come from the eye, which is captured by the camera that must be set on manual} and just added some adjustments and creation to it. I enhanced it, and brought out what beautiful aspects were already in it.
I also took out my husband's hand, which took quite some time and effort - again, something you will NOT get from Sears!
I just want everyone to understand what comes with the price on custom photography. You are using our talent, time, and 100% devotion to YOUR needs and schedule. These photos are of you and your moments. There is no staging, on a rinky dinky prop that just doesn't fit with your taste, and we work for you. Customer satisfaction is not what a photography factory {sears, kiddie kandids, picture people...etc etc} is about.

Halfway to 1!
Happy half little Em! {See below the reason why I underlined the word little}
Weight: 13lbs 10oz {10th%}
Height: 25" {25th%}
Head Circumference: 16.3" {25th%}
That's right folks, 10th%!!! She went from being a rather large baby to a very tiny baby. The pedi thinks it can either be from teething and her not nursing efficiently because it hurts, her genetic make-up caught up with her {both Brian and I were very small babies}, or she may have low muscle tone. ::sigh::
She is still not sitting up unassisted for longer than a few seconds. I know that the range for sitting up is between 4-8 months, but she is super "floppy". The pedi did a few tests and sees that her muscle density/strength are falling behind for a 6 month old. So we were referred to a neurologist. We will be seeing the neuro in another month.
We decided to supplement with formula a bit so she isn't struggling with the nursing. My poor kid needs to pack on the pounds! Where did my chubby newborn go?!?!
In better news, she is loving her solids. We are going to start her on pears tomorrow, but bananas and squash have been her food of choice thus far. She has started grabbing the spoon - Boy, oh boy I can just see it now, "Mom, I can do it myself!!!" Yea...I'm in for it!
She has hit some nice milestones minus our setbacks. She can hold her own bottle, AND she got a tooth! The very top of the tooth broke through yesterday. Nursing is becoming a bit painful, so we are going to see how it goes once more start cutting. We may have to stop nursing. We. shall. see.
The kid is soooo vocal! She totally knows her name, and she mimics every sound we make! I had a bit of a cough recently so now she likes to fake cough and then laugh at herself. I have a real character.
I'm hoping she starts getting a stronger core and stronger neck muscles - God knows this kid has SUPER strong arms and legs..damn! We used to call her the super moose baby! She was a chunky moose and soooo uber strong!
Regardless, Em is healthy as can be, and always super happy. I love waking up to that big beautiful smile and those piercing blue eyes.
